Introducing CMG News Contributor, Doug Carleton (SCORE)

Doug Carleton has been a SCORE mentor for eight years, specializing in access to capital for small businesses. He works with both startups and existing businesses where he focuses particular emphasis on financing strategies for both debt and equity. In 2015, he created the first business model canvas competition for Richmond SCORE. He has over twenty-five years of experience in small business finance including twelve years in SBA lending.

In addition to his work as a SCORE mentor, he is also a mentor for Startup Virginia and Lighthouse Labs; a member of the Community Engagement Committee of Activation Capital; and chairman of BizWorks, Chesterfield County’s small business incubator. He has been a frequent speaker and author on SBA and small business financing and teaches a program on how to finance a startup or existing business, which he regularly presents for SCORE Richmond.

As a CMG News Contributor, he is using his experience and insight to provide vital information for small businesses, start-ups, and nonprofits. We are collaborating to ensure that our community and clients have ample knowledge and resources to grow to the next level.
