Owner Reopens Hair Salon Following All Public Safety Recommendations

Located in the heart of Carytown, Voila’ Salon provides a range of highly trendy haircuts and styling, hair color, balayage and waxing services. The owner, Delisa Johnson, has her own salon suite in Sola Studios. This provides privacy and specialized time with her clients, where they can enjoy the silence or have extensive conversations with Delisa about serious concerns without a fear of being overheard by a guest at the next station. Her studio was established in 2014, and Delisa now has over 20 years of experience as a stylist.

Unfortunately, per the Governor’s Executive Order, hair salons had to completely close mid-March. Staying well groomed was not considered “essential” during a stay-at-home mandate, so Delisa had to close her doors to the public. With no steady income at the time, she had to take advantage of the Small Business Stimulus Program, unemployment and her savings. Needless to say, Delisa and thousands of other small business owners have been experiencing stress like never before!

In a time when customer support was most needed, that is just what Delisa’s clients offered. Some purchased gift cards to help her secure a reopen date in the future. She also took the time to educate herself on new hair trends by practicing on a mannequin head. Additionally, she increased activity on her social media platforms and posted more frequently to stay top of mind with her customers.

Since many small businesses don’t have deep pockets like big retailers, referrals are the best complement! Delisa has a referral program, and she tries to make each customer experience fun, educational, friendly and personal so they keep coming back. Fortunately, Delisa just reopened her studio on June 1st for hair appointments, in accordance with all public safety recommendations.
