Local Foster Care Organization Sees Added Complications and Trauma To Children Since COVID-19.

JFS Connecting Hearts' mission is to find foster, adoptive, and kinship families for every child in central Virginia's foster care system. They collaborate with Local Departments of Social Services, local parents and foster children, and other local agencies to recruit and educate prospective foster or adoptive parents. They also share the stories and portraits of foster children in their 'Heart Gallery' and partner with WTVR CBS 6 to bring them to the television during National Adoption Month in November.

Over 1,000 children in Virginia's foster care system are looking for a permanent, loving home. COVID-19 has disrupted their support systems, reminding them of their past trauma, and has made their dream of being adopted seem far away. JFS Connecting Hearts is working harder than ever to recruit and support qualified foster or adoptive parents.

With the inability to gather in person for 'The Bowling Ball Awareness and Fundraiser' this year, JFS Connecting Hearts made this event virtual! Children in foster care still need our help, and there's no time to spare.

The community can transform the life of a child in foster care!

You can even watch how familiar faces at CBS 6, the Virtual Bowling Ball's presenting sponsor, roll (and row) for kids in foster care! When we roll together, we can find every child a loving home!
